Intro // My Favorite Book

Intro

. . .

Lady Bibliotaph was created in mid-2018, but was deleted a couple months ago. I didn’t have time to maintain a blog, as I was struggling with personal issues. Along the way, I stopped reading and that really contributed to a downward spiral I think.

This blog keeps me grounded, accountable, and productive. That’s why I restarted it.

My Favorite Book

The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe

by

Jane Wagner

. . .

Synopsis

Our main character is Trudy the bag lady, an eccentric homeless woman.

The story centers on Trudy trying to explain American society to an alien committee in her head.

She can watch peoples lives through the individuals point of view, like she’s watching t.v. She uses these strangers experiences to explain humanity to her extraterrestrial friends.

Yeah, it’s a weird book.

Quotes

“All my life, I always wanted to be somebody. Now I see that I should have been more specific.”

“A sobering thought: what if, at this very moment, I am living up to my full potential?”

“Here we are, standing on the corner of ‘Walk, Don’t Walk.’ You look away from me, tryin’ not to catch my eye, but you didn’t turn fast enough, did you?”

Why It’s My Favorite

Jane writes, in play form, one of the wittiest, realest, funniest, most unique works of fiction I’ve ever read.

You know a book is your favorite when you can re-read it over and over and over and still laugh, and never get sick of it.

The writing is interesting and well done, the characters are fleshed out, and even though the premise is somewhat confusing, you never feel completely lost.

You’re with Trudy. You’re as nutty as she is.

Overall, it’s just a brilliant book and I completely recommend it to anybody & everybody.
